To rap or not to rap? ... That is the question.

Overall, I think that this singing assignment did help me understand and improve my knowledge of photosynthesis.  It helped me go over how it works and a little about both the Calvin Cycle and the Light Reaction.  Because I had to keep singing my song over and over again, a lot of the things got imprinted in my head and so I thought the song was a good way to learn about photosynthesis.  Just taking time to write the lyrics helped me learn more!

Some of the advantages of this project were the learning experience and improving our skills on the computer (Garageband, etc.).  The drawback was that it was kind of an embarrassing assignment because I am a terrible singer, and would rather not have people listening to me sing.

Personally, I don't think that doing a lab would have helped me learn about photosynthesis any better because by singing and writing the lyrics I could get the steps planted in my brain.  Although, doing a lab isn't a bad idea either.  I just think doing the song would give everybody a more well-rounded experience as to learning all the steps of Photosynthesis. 

Thanksgiving: What are you thankful for? Personally/Globally

Out of all the holidays we celebrate each year, Thanksgiving is one of the most important. In a time like this, where many people are facing economic crisis, I think that there is a lot to be thankful for. I am thankful for, most importantly, my family because they are the people that support me and care for me as I do for them. Although you may think it sounds cheesy, it's true! Without the support of my family I wouldn't be able to do much, especially because they are the one's who provide for me. Of course, I can't forget to be thankful for my friends, a home, food, clothes, and all the things I need to be who I am. It's really good that my family is not facing very bad financial crisis's like the many other unfortunate people in the world. Happiness and love are probably some things many people overlook, but I think it's an essential thing to be thankful for. The laughter and the smiles can break the ice even between nations. I pretty much am just thankful that I'm alive and still kickin'. : )

Do Science Fair Actually "Help" Teach Science?

I think that Science Fair does help teach science to people that decide to pursue the task because it lets them observe information that they have discovered about their science topic. Doing a science fair allows people to learn more about a certain subject and may answer any questions someone may have.  Science Fair teaches the scientific method, which includes asking a question, doing background research, constructing a hypothesis, testing with an experiment, analyzing the data that was obtained, and recording the data, so it does relate to science in many ways.   Students can improve the way they think because doing a Science Fair will require a large thought process of how to go about doing their projects.

Is the use of stem cells a good thing or a bad thing?

In recent years, stem cells have been the center of a controversial debate. I think that the use of stem cells is a good thing. Because there is so much going on about this issue, it's probably best to let the patient decide whether or not they want to use stem cells as a method of operation. One type of stem cell is the embryonic stem cell, which is the one many people disagree on, because it takes away a life of an undeveloped child. However, the embryonic stem cell is the most useful because it can become many different kinds of cells unlike, say, adult stem cells, and I'm sure that a woman can develop more than one embryonic stem cell. I think that it is good to use stem cells because it has been helpful to many people, such as the woman in the video. Stem cells can be a good form a treatment for people who desire it.
